So your probably wondering why I’m writing an entire blog post about my shoes?
These shoes actually belonged to my son Braedon. He got these from me on what became his very last Christmas here on Earth. They’re actually too big but I wear them anyway because they have special meaning and power.
Where do I Wear Them?
I wear these when I walk onto stages and when I head out to a shopping sprees for The Braedon Foundation. I wear these when I need to bring a little extra into the world. Wearing these shoes brings me closer to Braedon; like I have a little bit of him with me wherever I am.
How they Make me Feel?!
They make me feel braver then I’ve ever been; like I embody just a little of Braedon’s courage and some of his unbelievable strength. They remind me that I’m walking through this life for him now to. They remind me to keep stepping forward no matter how many times I fall down. They remind me that I’m here, now, in this moment and that’s a privilege not everyone is getting today. They remind me that no matter how badly I am hurting that I can keep pressing forward. They remind me of my biggest missions and what I’m capable of when I refuse to let anything stop me. They remind me that we only have one life to live and that I want that life to be a masterpiece that serves not only me, but my friends, my family, my community and hopefully if I work hard enough the world!
In case you don’t have any magical shoes from your very own angel to make you feel brave, strong and courageous I’m here to remind you that I think you’re all those things. I believe in you. I know you don’t always feel it and maybe you never feel it but it’s there just below the surface. You my friend, are more powerful than you’ve ever dreamed possible.
“Sometimes all you need is twenty seconds of insane courage. Just literally twenty seconds of embarrassing bravery. And I promise you something great will come of it.” ~Benjamin Mee, We Bought a Zoo
