A Dedication to my Angel Son

I almost forgot to share this amazing news with all of you!

Earlier this month I had the honor of receiving The Ladies of Influence, Lady of Resilience Award. Life has been so crazy ever since that I haven’t had the chance to share this with all of you and to express my sincere gratitude to the founder Terri-Ann Richards and her team: Amanda Hanson and Kelly Etheridge. You ladies have no idea just how much this means to you and I thank you, sincerely from the bottom of my heart. I’d also like to congratulate all the nominees and the other winners as well: The Lady of Leadership Suzanne McKinney, The Lady to Watch Award was awarded to Laura Gatien, The Lady of Community Award Lina Gharbiya.

I’m Dedicating This Award to my angel, Braedon : My Acceptance Speech

Thank you so much, what an honor. Thank you to all of you for bring here tonight and to our amazing committee. As many of you know in 2018 I lost my teenage son Braedon. As you can imagine this kind of loss knocks you off your axis.

In the beginning I worried I wouldn’t survive. I knew I needed something bigger than myself to focus on. I couldn’t think of a better way to honor Braedon than by creating the Braedon Foundation in his memory and doing good in the world in his name. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the Braedon Foundation we do happy heart room makeovers or shopping spree’s for kids in NB who have severe, life-threatening or high-risk illnesses. This past September we also launched the Braedon Foundation support group for parents of children with critical illnesses.

The Bravest Person I’ve ever Known

“Everyday I wake I try to embody his courage, his strength and his kindness”

Braedon was the bravest person I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing and everyday I wake I try to embody his courage, his strength and his kindness and it has pushed me to be brave with my life! I remind myself daily that I don’t want to take advantage of what was taken from him, the gift of time.

So this award is for him because its his voice I hear telling me to get back up when I feel like I can’t go on, his shining light that leads me when I feel lost in the dark and his incredible courage that pushes me to be brave with my life and to never stop pushing to live a life of purpose and to create an impact in the world around me.

So tonight & every night I’d like to remind all of you that life is fleeting. The reality is not everyone with us tonight will be here at next year. So I ask each of you to ask yourself the tough questions, what kind of legacy do you want to create? Are you truly living or just surviving? What kind of life do you want to have?

I urge to not waste the time you’ve been gifted because tomorrow isn’t a guarantee. Get out of your comfort zone, chase your biggest dreams, live the life you deserve and be #bravelikebraedon.

I’d like to send out a special thank you to all the women in our community who have helped lift me up, held my hand, wiped my tears and encouraged me to reach for more in my life. And a special thank you to the the Braedon Foundation board of directors; I couldn’t do what I do without each and everyone of you.
